Rauf Aregbesola, the former Minister of Interior, expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and former President General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) for their instrumental roles in his political achievements. Aregbesola made this statement during a civic reception held in his honor by concerned Muslim scholars and clerics in the South-West of Nigeria in Oyo State.
Acknowledging the support and mentorship he received from Tinubu in Lagos and his emergence in Osun, as well as the opportunities granted by President Buhari, Aregbesola attributed his accomplishments to their guidance and assistance.
He stated, “If any appreciation and gratitude could be given to me, I want to believe greater gratitude and appreciation should be given to those two people I have mentioned because, without their support, it would be pretty difficult for me single-handedly to achieve the heights I have attained and render the services for which the people are commending and appreciating me.”
During the event, prominent speakers such as Professor Sarafadeen Kareem from the Federal University of Agriculture, Ogun State, and Associate Professor Abass Alade from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, praised Aregbesola’s contributions to the state and urged him to continue his dedicated service to humanity.
The program, organized by the Muslim community, aimed to celebrate Aregbesola’s unwavering commitment to Islam and his enduring presence in politics. The event garnered participation from dignitaries such as the acting Chief Imam of Oyo, Sheikh Abdullateef Abdulazeez, and other notable political stakeholders.
The Basorun of Oyo Kingdom, High Chief Yusuf Olayinka, expressed gratitude on behalf of the town for Aregbesola’s significant contributions to their development. Overall, the reception showcased the admiration and support Aregbesola has garnered throughout his political career.
