Buhari and Tinubu Meet at Aso Rock Presidential Villa

On Wednesday morning, the retired Major General and President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, held a meeting with Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Senior presidency sources indicate that the meeting took place at Buhari’s official residence, which may explain why he arrived 40 minutes late to chair the Federal Executive Council meeting that week at the Council Chambers. According to reports from The PUNCH, Buhari arrived at the Chambers around 10:40 am, an hour after the usual 10:00 am start time. The meeting occurred four days after the APC’s campaign rally at Eagle Square in Abuja.

While the specific purpose of the meeting is unknown, it is probable that it pertains to the upcoming election, which is only ten days away and the APC’s campaign.

A different source informed a correspondent that the reason for Buhari’s tardiness was due to his intention to monitor the outcome of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the federal government and the Central Bank of Nigeria’s new naira policy. Nevertheless, the hearing has been postponed until Wednesday, February 22.
