
Korede Bello, Gt Da Guitarman, Lepacious Bose, Jumoke Odetola Feature In Drug Themed Movie (Trap)
The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, or World Drug Day, is marked on 26 June every year to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving a world free of drug abuse. In readiness towards the campaign, Jeyten Production is set to premiere a movie titled Trap.
The project is produced by Jumoke Odetola and directed by Gboyega Ashowo. While Moshood Yakubu Olawale and Jumoke Odetola are credited for the script and screenplay.
The movie which features Korede Bello, Gt Da Guitarman among other stars will premiere at the Silvabird Galleria in Abuja on Friday the 25th of June 2022. The event is put together in conjunction with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA and in partnership with MTN.
Speaking at the press conference, which took place at WorkCity co-working space in Lekki, the Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, (Rtd.) Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa urged everyone especially the youths to shun drug abuse and other related vices and work towards making the society better and safer. implement health policies that would make provisions for the improvement of the lives of people with the disorder.
Also speaking at the event leading Nollywood actress Jumoke Odetola who is is the producer and the lead actor in the movie said she understands the role of celebrities in the society. And went further to say irrespective of what her colleagues think, they must understand that they are all society role models. “People may not understand or even listen to others when they talk. But when they watch us do what we do. The people naturally want to copy. This is the inspiration behind this. We want to impact lives in the most effective way we can.”
The cast includes, Jumoke Odetola, Jimi Odukoya, GT The Guitar Man, Rotimi Adelegan, Lepacious Bose, Funke Kate, Ayo Olaiya, Jide Awobona, Yemisi Ajose, Abolore Osho, Olanrewaju Saheed, Ayodele Emmanuel, Obakemi Obadara, Habeeb Akanni, Rotyben Omokoshofe, Fatimoh Salami, Adigun Nafisat, Ajumoko Damilare, Korede Bello and some more.
Ediale Kingsley the Filmmaker, Publicist and Journalist, queried the decision to include Gt Da Guitarman in the project. Jumoke explained she wasn’t a close friend of the musician before the project even though she G.T Da Guitarman has always been her crush, “I was happy to see him agree on the project as well as do so greatly. Because this project happened when he was going through a lot. And what you see him display in the movie is real.”
The musician, who was the only actor, aside Jumoke, that was on ground for the press conference, explained his decision to take part.
“I was going through divorce at that moment. Anyone who has gone through such would understand how depressing it could be. And when the script came I loved it. And was happy it came even therapeutic for me. Jumoke Odetola is doing something amazing here. Doing all these with her money because she really wants to make impact and cause the needed change in the society. Knowing someone will be touched out there after interacting with this movie is a win for us all.”
The Movie Premiere is part of a series of activities lined up to mark the world Drug Abuse week.
