The Lagos State Government has initiated a temporary road closure strategy to accelerate ongoing construction undertakings aimed at enhancing infrastructure within the state.
Highlighted among the impacted routes are the entrance to CMD Road and the Access Road to Isheri-Olowora on the Shagamu bound carriageway.
In a formal announcement released on Tuesday, Abdulahfiz Toriola, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, relayed these developments and their projected schedules.
As per Toriola, the entrance to CMD Road will be inaccessible for three consecutive days, starting Wednesday, August 9. This hiatus will facilitate the final application of the wearing course, a crucial phase in the construction process.
Additionally, Toriola affirmed that the Access Road to Isheri-Olowora on the Shagamu bound carriageway, situated near the Berger bus stop pedestrian bridge, will observe a three-day closure commencing Thursday, August 10. This closure aims to lay the groundwork for the reconstruction of the remaining outer lane segment of the carriageway.
Anticipating the consequent adjustments in traffic flow, Toriola introduced a comprehensive traffic management plan. Effective Thursday, August 10, 2023, motorists utilizing the Ojota Interchange route will transition to CMD Road through the access road following the FMW weighbridge. Similarly, those on Dr. Nurudeen Olowopopo route will connect to CMD Road via Otedola Estate.
For Isheri-Olowora-bound motorists intending to exit the expressway via the access preceding the Pedestrian Bridge at Berger bus stop, the subsequent exit by New Garage will serve as a conduit to Isheri-Olowora.
Toriola implored motorists to cooperate harmoniously with the dispatched traffic management personnel, whose guidance will ensure a seamless navigation experience towards desired destinations amidst these temporary road closures.
