Value Driven Leadership (VDL) has launched a mobile app called the Obidient Townhall Platform to aid organization and communication among supporters of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi. The app, which was launched in Lagos, is intended to serve as a mobilizing and canvassing tool for Obidients across Nigeria, by allowing them to coordinate and plan across wards and polling units. The co-convener of VDL, Mrs Nwamaka Okoye, emphasized the app’s importance for Nigeria’s electioneering process and stated that it will provide Obidients with their day-to-day mandate directly from the campaign, state coordinators, support groups, and polling unit members.
“Furthermore, the app will aid the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council to effectively monitor and manage an already successful campaign,” the Co-convener of VDL, Okoye, continued. The Special Adviser to Peter Obi on Technology and Strategic Alliances, Valentine Ozigbo, called the Townhall Platform a “game changer” and praised VDL for its contribution to the campaign, particularly its efforts in the northern states. Ozigbo stated, “I would like to commend VDL for spearheading the Obi/Datti campaign across Nigeria’s 19 northern states and the timely launch of the Townhall platform. The usefulness of this tool cannot be overstated as it will change the dynamics of this election and help HE Peter Obi become the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Director-General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign, Dr Akin Osuntokun, thanked the team behind the Obidient Townhall Platform app and urged Nigerians to stay true to their destiny. He said, “Frantz Fanon said, ‘each generation must, out of relative obscurity, discover its mission, fulfil it, or betray it.’ I’m glad this generation has discovered purpose; now is the time to stay true to it. I thank Value Driven Leadership for what they are doing and encourage them to do more.” Additionally, the Director-General of BIG-TENT, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkarim, praised the Townhall app and called it the “masterstroke.” He highlighted the app’s ability to organize Obidients from the national level, state level, LGA, and wards to polling units. He added that the app will enable canvassing and voting monitoring in the upcoming February 25, 2023 election.
The Coordinator of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council for Imo State, Chief Martin Agbaso, has praised the Obidient Townhall Platform as an “incredible tool” that will help amplify the efforts of Obidients nationwide and increase the chances of Peter Obi and his running mate, Datti, winning the presidential election.
