Tinubu and Shettima to Receive Certificate of Return on Wednesday

On Wednesday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will present certificates of return to the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, and vice president-elect, Kashim Shettima, according to a report

Tinubu, a former Lagos State governor, was declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election by INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, at the International Collation Centre in Abuja, having polled 8,794,726 votes. He defeated other contenders such as Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party.

Each of the top three presidential candidates won in 12 states, while Rabiu Kwankwaso only claimed victory in Kano State, according to reports. After declaring Bola Tinubu as the winner of the presidential election, INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu announced that Tinubu and vice president-elect Kashim Shettima would receive their certificate of return at the International Collation Centre in Abuja, allowing the commission to plan for the upcoming governorship election on March 11.

While Tinubu and Shettima would be receiving their certificates, Yakubu stated that senators and House of Representatives members-elect would have to wait for an announcement regarding their own ceremony. He added that the commission would release a statement later in the day to confirm the details.
